In this work, I interpret the patterns of the historic city through abstraction. Since the city was built at the confluence of the Ouse and Foss rivers, shades of blue, representing the water's surface, dominate the piece.
The main character is a fish, symbolizing an archetype of all fish, and therefore, it doesn't resemble any specific species. Within the aquatic pattern, we can trace the design of one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe, the Church of St. Peter, also known as York Minster. Additionally, the silhouette of the entire city can be seen in the background, adding context to the work.
